Over 300 riders joined the Tour of the Meon Valley sportive this morning, made up of three routes across some of the most glorious countryside this country has to offer. The first riders to leave were released at 7.15 this morning, with the last group led out by Felix Barrow himself. Routes available were 25 miles, 50 miles, and 100 miles, making for a total of 19,289 miles cycled today! That’s enough to get you almost right around the world!
Photos and video will be released on to our Facebook page over the next few days.
One rider, actor Rupert Penry-Jones (pictured), told us “I was so lucky to have taken part in this ride today. I turned up for something that wasn’t happening and found you guys instead! The people organising it were so friendly and welcoming that I just had to take part. One of the most special rides I have ever been a part of. I loved it. I then had the privilege of meeting Felix and his amazing family after I finished. I have been walking on air for the rest of the day! Thank you.”
Our huge thanks go to a wonderful group of people who made this event a tremendous success. They include all the marshals, cake bakers, drivers, helpers, signmakers, masseurs, and other volunteers who helped make the whole thing such a success. To all of you at home recovering from an awesome days riding, well done! You raised a lot of money, and put a big smile on young Felixs face. Thank you.
